National Assisted Living Week (NALW).

Dear Terraces families and friends,

For those of you who have been with us for over a year, you might remember that every September we celebrate National Assisted Living Week (NALW). This year NALW goes from Sunday, September 8-Saturday, September 14. We always make a big deal of NALW with lots of special events and activities for residents, staff, family members and friends. FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS ARE WELCOME FOR ALL THIS SUPER FUN PROGRAMMING!
ON SUNDAY (TOMORROW) we’re holding a special Grandparents Day Social with live entertainment, refreshments and and some kind of light snack. There will be a petting zoo on Thursday, a SPECIAL SOCIAL CAFE for families, friends and employees on Saturday, and other fun events, the highlights of which follow. Read on…

Hat Day (Wear a hat if you want!)
2pm-Ice Cream Sundae Bar (All the fixins!)
3pm-Grandparents Day Social with Mike and Mandy (Live entertainment to celebrate all grandparents!)

• Monday, September 9

Beach Day (Beach or pool attire welcome all day!)
1pm-Cooking demo with Alex (Alex is a Safe Haven employee and word is that he bakes like nobody’s business!)
3pm-Bingo Bonanza! (No coins required)

• Tuesday, September 10

Twin Day (Dress up the same as another resident or a visiting family member or friend!)
12-7pm-Our always popular Caricature Artist will be here all day!
1pm-Chair Chi (With Smoothies!!!)

• Wednesday, September 11

Patriotic Day (Wear your red, white and blue if you’d like!)
1pm-Family Feud with Maggie & LaShawna (More fun than human beings should be allowed to have!)

• Thursday, September 12

Sports Jersey Day (Represent your favorite team!)
1pm-Make and Fire your own Clay plates and bowls with Yessi (Wally’s mom!)
5-7pm-Mobile Petting Zoo (Warning! Cuteness overload!)

• Friday, September 13

Graphic T-Shirt Day (Wear a T-shirt with anything printed on it!)
1pm-Chair Chi (With Smoothies!)
3pm-Karaoke with Dana
5:30-“Little Miss Sunshine” (A GEM of a movie, if you haven’t seen it!)

• Saturday, September 14

Pajama Day (It’s bedtime all day long!!!)

1pm-Staff, Resident and family member Social Café Your loved ones have shared all about you! Now it’s your turn to tell stories about THEM! All are welcome to tell stories and share memories! Stories can be funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, interesting, anything you want to share! Stories and memories about your parents, siblings, family traditions, how you met your spouse/partner, your first car, your first crush, your first boyfriend/girlfriend, your best friend when you were a child, your favorite cousin, your first concert, how did you make your first dollar, how’d you find God, an embarrassing story about yourself, your kids, etc, etc, etc! There are no rules and no judgement about your share. Social Café is a safe place to talk about anything!
